The Dublin FIRST Robotics Competition offers students from Dublin's three high schools unique challenges in science, technology, engineering, math, computer programming, computer animation, marketing, presentation, and community service.
The build cycle (the main season) for the high school team is from the beginning of January through mid February. The regional competition is in March. If the team qualifies, students can also attend the championship competition in April.
Students work occasionally throughout the year on community service projects. Many of the students work in the fall as mentors to the FIRST LEGO® League program in the middle schools or in the spring for the FIRST LEGO® League Challenge program in the elementary schools.
The Dublin Robotics Team is coached by Greg King, winner of the Woody Flowers Award in 2009, and Troy Dramble. Students from The Ohio State University School of Engineering, many of them former Dublin Robotics team members, serve as mentors. Advisors from Dublin City Schools and the Dublin Robotics Boosters also support the team.
